First-time director John Harrison uses a variety of horror styles with some confidence, if no great originality. Though not well acted and rather less shocking than the movies it imitates, the film is saved by some pleasantly black humour. Deborah Harry makes a lovely witch, and I shall long treasure the memory of a hit-man being choked to death by a cat clambering down his neck, on the inside.
