Portmanteau film, where four visitors to fairground are told their futures by a Mephistophelean figure (Burgess Meredith).

Thanks to Francis’s direction and Robert Bloch’s writing, this emerges as probably the best of Amicus’s compendium films. The acting is of a high quality, and the final story, The Man Who Collected Poe, starring Jack Palance, is terrific.
