A fading Broadway hoofer (Fred Astaire) puts on a musical version of Faust with a pretentious actor-manager (Jack Buchanan).

Charming, elegant backstage musical with the mature Fred Astaire and Jack Buchanan at their best, a witty script, numerous great songs, plus the legs, sex appeal and dancing ability of Cyd Charisse. One of the best screen musicals ever.
