Pseudo-documentary about French-Algerian conflict between 1954 and 1962.

Skilfully written, reasonably fair-minded and realistically directed anti-colonialist propaganda, with the none too hidden agenda of castigating America for its involvement in Vietnam. Harrowing details help to give it the power of documentary. Voted Best Film at the Venice Film Festival, 1966, but banned for some years in France.
