Cecil B. de Mille's rum tale of piracy on the high seas, circa 1812.

Rollicking fun, with loads of colour and movement, expertly photographed by Victor Milner (who won an Oscar nomination). For once in this Hollywood era, the English are the baddies, which means that Fredric March as the hero puts on a hilariously unconvincing French accent.
