Adventures of a 19th century sea captain (Gregory Peck).

Despite the artificial sets and a broken-backed narrative, this is still a rollicking, enjoyable Hollywood version of the C.S.Forester naval adventures. For once, Gregory Peck's woodenness suits the character, and Virginia Mayo is decorative enough to make one understand why he eventually unbends. The rousing score is by Robert Farnon. |
