An argument over library curtains escalates in a mental institution where the staff seem even barmier than the patients.

Talky drama which has too many plot strands and is fatally lacking in a sense of humour. Richard Widmark and Lauren Bacall may well have erased this one from their CV. Leonard Rosenman's adventurous, Schoenberg-influenced score is nowadays the only reason to experience it.
