| And a much improved version. The script is noticeably strengthened, with sharper dialogue and more emphasis on the relationship between Errol Flynn and David Niven (the actors' real-life cameraderie may have helped, too). Sensibly, Goulding used some of Howard Hawks's excellent aerial footage. Basil Rathbone gives one of his best performances as the Major who is sending his men up to die. |
