Girl (Krystina Kohoutova) has strange dream.

A surrealist interpretation of Lewis Carroll's classic - which was pretty surreal, to begin with. The great Czech animator's mixture of puppet animation with live action (Alice is a real little girl) is bizarre, menacing and definitely not kids' stuff. It is a memorable exploration of the dark recesses of a child's imagination - you may spot the allusions to Freud and Kafka; the thing that's missing is Carroll's sense of humour.
