A vicar (Patrick McGoohan) leads the smugglers of Romney Marsh against oppressive excise-men.

One of the few genuinely exciting children's films, and too frightening for the very young. Gripping story, good cast (especially McGoohan and George Cole) excellent use of unusual locations. Made in three parts for American TV, but so good it was released cinematically in Britain; it deserved better than the lukewarm reviews it received.
