A theatrical producer (James Cagney) has big ideas during the Depression.

Reviewed by Chris Tookey

Forget the thin, episodic plot and just enjoy James Cagney’s acting, sing and dancing. Director-choreographer Busby Berkeley contributes some of his most memorable production numbers: Honeymoon Hotel, Shanghai Lil, and (best of all) By a Waterfall , which is virtually a definition of kitsch.
