| Stylish spaghetti western on a grand scale, with Eastwood perfecting his impersonation of a waxwork Gary Cooper, Eli Wallach (pictured) over-acting manfully to compensate, and Ennio Morricone contributing one of his most memorable scores. It's much admired by its fans; but to others (including me), it's pretentious, intolerably slow, and boring. |
