Four teenagers run over a man when theyíre drunk, then throw him in the sea. A year later, and they start receiving threats from someone who claims he (or she) knows what they did last Summer. To add to the panic, more and more of them and their friends end up spectacularly dead, hooked to death by a mysterious figure dressed as a fisherman.

Screenwriter Kevin Williamson wrote the horror hit of 1997 in Scream . His second release, a much more run-of-the-mill affair, looks suspiciously like something he had in his bottom drawer for some time. It should have stayed there. Itís competently acted and directed, and there are some nasty shocks - but nothing that hasnít been seen before in the Friday the Thirteenth series. The young people are such a nasty, callous lot that itís hard to care what happens to them; the identity of the mad slasher is a cheat on the audience (it turns out to be none of the alternative suspects - just someone we havenít known about); and the killerís rationale doesnít bear close inspection. Thereís no reason why the first of the slasherís victims has to be murdered, except to give the movie audience a cheap thrill.
