Slick thriller with a jaundiced view of the middle class and two immaculate performances from Audran and Bouquet discovering murky depths to their psyches. Obviously influenced by Bunuel and Hitchcock, it also looks forward to the works of David Lynch in its offbeat cynicism about supposedly respectable folk. |
