Buttercup (Robin Wright) falls prey to the nefarious schemes of Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon). Fortunately there’s a nice young man (Cary Elwes) to the rescue.

Tongue-in-cheek fairy story that’s occasionally too pleased with itself. All the same, it works pretty well as comic entertainment for adults, who will enjoy the wit with which ithe film parodies traditional fairy stories, and forb children, who will (especially if they are young) take the adventure at face value. There are enjoyable comc turns from Mandy Patinkin, Bily Crystal and Wallace Shawn.
