A young woman (Mia Farrow, pictured) is impregnated by the Devil.
Reviewed by Chris Tookey

Effective, suspense-filled horror film about demonic possession. Some critics found it cold and sadistic, but Mia Farrow arouses the audience’s pity as the pregnant innocent. Polanski expertly creates a feeling of unease (helped by excellent performances) and wisely hints at horrors too horrible to show. His one major error of taste is the scene where we see Farrow raped by the Devil.
