After a slow start, this develops into a gentle, delightful, wittily observed masterpiece which celebrates the joys of eating, drinking and the art of cooking. All the performances are faultless - it's one of the greatest examples ever of ensemble acting - but Stephane Audran is sublime. Voted Foreign Language Film of the Year by the British Critics' Circle.
