Russell Brand
Actor, St Trinianís (2007)
Where the fifties films had the splendidly furtive George Cole as the girlsí underworld mentor Flash Harry, the new Flash is the puzzlingly ubiquitous Russell Brand, looking as usual like the bastard offspring of Captain Jack Sparrow and Amy Winehouse, and mugging to camera as though heís in a panto matinee. Iím not convinced that the arrival of Mr Brand on our cinema screens constitutes progress.

Actor, Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
As for the puzzlingly ubiquitous Mr Brand, shorn of the flamboyant, cod-period verbiage that he passes off as wit, he reveals all the allure of a funnel-web spider on heat. I would have thought his character loses any vestige of attractiveness when he casually reveals that he has a sexually transmitted disease which he might easily have passed on to all the other leading characters. Publicists keep telling me that Mr Brand radiates sex appeal Ė but to what species, itís difficult to say.
