Timothy Forder
Writer, director, The Mystery of Edwin Drood (1993)
The supporting performances (from the likes of Gemma Craven, Nanette Newman and Freddie Jones) are hardly helped by dialogue of utter banality, a director who hasn't a clue how to differentiate between central and peripheral characters, and camerawork which veers in style between children's television and slasher-video nasty. The lighting changes randomly from shot to shot, while the editing appears to have performed with his eyes shut by Jack the Ripper.
