Christopher Hampton
Writer, Director, Imagining Argentina (2003)
Some films are so spectacularly misjudged they make you want to put a brown paper bag over your head and roll off your cinema seat in a foetal ball of embarrassment and shock. Such a one is Christopher Hamptonís new work, which superimposes a fatuous layer of magic-realist whimsy on the abduction and murder of 30,000 people in Argentina by the fascist junta in the 1970s and 1980s.
(Peter Bradshaw, Guardian)
The idiotic happy ending will have many members of the audience rolling their eyes in disbelief or imagining fiendish tortures with which to persuade Mr Hampton never to make another film.
