| First and most gripping of a profitable series of airborne disaster movies, all of them inferior to this. It's well acted, especially by Helen Hayes (who won an Oscar); but the plot is terribly mechanical, and it's hard to care what happens to characters so cardboard that in a real air disaster they would merely blow away. |
