Within a few days, a middle-aged mother's boy (Sam Neill, pictured right) meets the slut of his dreams (Zoe Carides, left), kills a workmate, causes another man to be beheaded by Turks, and turns his mother into a vegetable.

Sam Neill showed surprising comic talent in John Ruane's amusingly black, anarchic comedy from Australia. I laughed uproariously. A huge hit in Australia but virtually ignored elsewhere, it is destined to be a cult classic.
