| John Boorman's gripping, nightmarish movie is both repulsive and compulsive: thematically, a combination of Lord Of The Flies and Straw Dogs. Jon Voight is excellent as the mild chap who learns to survive in the wild; and the movie helped make Burt Reynolds a star. |
