Inferior forerunner to On The Town: poorly plotted, ponderously patriotic, under-characterised and overlong - but saved from oblivion by the leading performances (particularly Kelly's) and one stunning dance routine where Kelly performs with Jerry the cartoon mouse. George Stoll's music won an Academy Award.
