Classic gangster drama with a social conscience and strong moral. Craggy Pat OBrien somehow manages to avoid seeming pious, as he shows his cocky childhood buddy on Death Row (James Cagney) why its not such a great idea for the community that hes worshipped by the local youth. Cagney and O'Brien make a great screen partnership.
