| Fine action western - not as highly acclaimed as the film it copied, Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai, but pacier, more accessible, and even better acted. Elmer Bernstein was Oscar-nominated for perhaps the greatest of all western themes. There were three lesser sequels - Return of the Magnificent Seven (1966), Guns of the Magnificent Seven (1969) and The Magnificent Seven Ride! (1972). |
