A thick Mafia hit-man (Jack Nicholson) becomes infatuated with a hit-woman (Kathleen Turner), literally a femme fatale.

A triumphant late flowering of director John Huston's talent: this must be the quirkiest gangster film of all time. Its cheerful tastelessness, amorality and lack of pace leaves some people cold, but I loved the acting - especially William Hickey, amusing and chilling as a repellent Mafia boss, and Anjelica Huston, delicious as Nicholson's less than steady girlfriend. Kathleen Turner is appropriately cool and mysterious; and while Nicholson does not entirely convince as an Italian-American, he's very funny.
