ANTI Reviews

"You may feel uneasy about the implications of the story line: Simba, a young lion, must deal with the loss of his sensitive dad at the hands of an evil uncle who, not so coincidentally, happens to be childless and sound stereotypically gay. (Simba is essentially Bambi in posttrauma recovery.) A little new age ecology is preached - we're all vital parts of the food chain. But The Lion King is clearly on the side of the Hollywood end of the food chain - with his tawny, California-kid looks, Simba wouldn't be out of place on the beach in Baywatch."
(Polly Frost, Harper's Bazaar)
