James Camerons directorial flair, an ingenious story and some witty comic observation - plus Arnold Schwarzeneggers laconic, monolithic presence as the killer android - made this low-budget sci-fi thriller first a surprise hit (it grossed over $40 million) and then a cult classic. But theres little characterisation, and the time travel scenario makes no logical sense (not that it did in the sequel, either). Memorable moments, but to this critic at least its over-violent, and surpassed as entertainment by Terminator 2. |
