It's brightly photographed, but dismally cliched. Berenger copes manfully with over-familiar lines like "This ain't gonna be a picnic, this ain't no place for a woman" but he can't do much with a plot which begins as a rip-off of Die Hard, turns into The African Queen, and ends up - when Hershey and Berenger finally meet up with the elusive Indians - as Dances With Wolves Meets Lost Horizon. |
Even though the Indians have a nasty habit of murdering white folks who wander into their territory, you'll be glad to hear that deep down they're nice, peace-loving people with a lovely sense of rhythm. |
