Pretentious codswallop, an American attempt to make an erotic film for the mass market. Few films which attempt this succeed. When they go wrong, they go very wrong indeed, and end up like Wild Orchid, Zandalee, or Naked Tango. The screenplay, which might be summarised as Emmanuelle Comes Dancing, is so risible that it's hard to believe it was written by Leonard Schrader, who adapted Kiss of the Spider Woman. His crude romanticism and idiotically melodramatic direction might strike even Ken Russell as unsubtle.
