This part of the site is dedicated to the movie critics who praise films that ought not to be praised, and act as unofficial PR men and women for the film industry.
One or two other sites (all American) establish quote whoredom merely by counting the number of times certain US critics appear on advertising. This is unfair, since
(a) it omits British film critics, some of whom are among the worst in the world;
(b) there is nothing wrong with a critic being enthusiastic about a film that is good.
This site remedies that problem by counting only quotes that have little or no relation to the truth about a film.
To this end, we have evolved a scoring system that penalises the true quote whores without unjustly accusing critics who may only be justifiably enthusiastic.
The scoring system is as follows:
1 flying pig is awarded for a kind review that bears little or no relation to other critics' ratings.
2 flying pigs are awarded for a review that so grossly exaggerates a film's merits that it appears to be a shameless bid to be on the poster.
3 flying pigs are awarded for a review that so grotesquely perverts the truth about a film that it calls into question the critic's sanity, and whether the critic actually saw the movie.
